Recent studies had proven that there is a relationship between smoking and gum disease, in fact not only smoking but using chewing tobacco can increase the risk of gum disease. Healthy gums and teeth are very essential for the good looking of your body and look for a better and a healthy life style. With smoking you can ruin your gums and teeth and you can ruin your life too that’s why a great many smokers will happen to have a black looking gum this is because of smoking which promotes gum disease it also promotes oral and mouth cancer.

Smoking has been very well known to slow the growth of blood vessels which makes the gum disease healing process slow and mostly impossible although studies had proven that smoking is one of the risks of gum disease for an individual.

The nicotine and tobacco found in the cigarette can cause construction of the blood vessels therefore there is no room for oxygen and other essential nutrients to reach and aid the gum tissue, tobacco also reduces the body’s ability to fight against infections therefore it slows the healing process studies and also proves that smokers become more prone to a specific bacteria that aids into developing an aggressive gum disease.

Recent studies have shown the very strong connection between smoking and gum disease it has been proven that smokers who smoke an average of a pack and a half a day will likely end up with gum disease 6 times more then non smokers and smokers who smoke an average of less then a pack a day will have higher chance of getting gum disease by 3 times more then non smokers.

The main reason and link between smoking and gum disease is because smoking reduces the body’s immune system ability to fight against infection therefore gum disease can develop very easily because smoking also reduces the speed of growth of the blood vessels in the gum tissue therefore it will delay the healing process.

It has been discovered that there is a big link or relation between smoking and oral health, smoking can cause your teeth to rot, increases your risk of gum disease and in fact mouth and oral cancer, so stopping smoking is also important for your healthy look and healthy style smokers are more likely to end up with oral and mouth cancer six times more then non smokers.
