i think personally you have to want to give up smoking no point in people telling you that stuff will kill you , we all know what it does to our bodies.
as for giving it up i think stone cold turkey is the only way , once you make your mind up that you are going to quit you will do it.
also if you have family and friends that smoke please ask them to respect your right not to smoke in your home / car etc.
1st week will be a tough ask , but stay strong and the following weeks will be all in your mind about the cravings.
all the best

I'm checking in to going to a hypnotist and see if that works.
I've tried the patch, the gum, the lozenge and the cold turkey thing and it didn't work for me.
People don't realize that we actually have Two habits to break, not just one. There's the cigarettes then there's the physical 'hand to mouth' habit. I solved the hand to mouth habit by drinking a bottle of cold water when my hands got bored and that helped. But I can't seem to get past the nicotine habit.
I had quit for about a year, then a couple of months ago, things beyond my control got me going again and once more the fight is on to quit.
I wish us both the best of luck.

Read my lips: DO NOT BUY THEM ANY MORE.. if you do not have them, you cannot smoke them. Cold turkey, and no other way. In about a week or two you will calm down. Just say no. Ever see someone die of lung cancer, or see a woman who is about 45 look so wrinkled that she looks 75, don't laugh, it happens. You stink too, your hair, your teeth are yellow, your apt. is full of stinky air, it is in your clothes, in your car and in your house. You do not think people know, but they do, they can smell you, because you stink. Cigarette stink and perfume, still stinks, but more. You can't get it off and out of things either. Ok, my father died of lung cancer, it is very aggressive, it will move all over your body before you can say "I want a ciggie", it is in your bones, and spreads. They put crap in there that make you crave it, you have a monkey on your back, just like dope. If you see someone who is dying of cancer, he is in a semi-coma, but still is trying to get the cigarette out of his pocket and putting his skeleton fingers up to his lips to take a puff. His head is bald, because the chemo made it all fall out, he cannot eat, and he has become a skeleton. You and the loved ones, go and see him but he cannot see you, they have to sit and wait and see your skeleton lay there. Do you still want a cigarette, your best friend, it is like a snake and ready to strike. You are hearing from a smoker and one that tried to quit and would go and fish them out of the garbage for that butt with just a small amt of the cigarette left to smoke. I was developing high blood pressure, since it was not detected, it did perm. heart damage. I have had a heart blockage and a stent in my heart. I quit and threw them away, and walked away almost 20 yrs ago, oh, yes, I did get cancer, breast cancer, and also heart disease. Still want one? My husband smoked a long time, but quit about the same time, he has COPD, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, no cure. I hope this helped you. I will tell you, put them down and save your life. Oh, yes, no one wants you around either, because no one smokes any more. Good luck.
