  1. Uncle Johnny Says:

I struggled for years to quit smoking. Nobody ever loved smoking
more than I and I thought for a long time that it was really impossible. I noticed a lot of others that had quit and thought to
myself “If they can do it, so can I”, but everytime I started to do
something about it, I found excuses and argued myself out of it
and procrastinated – I will do it tomorrow or I will start Monday
or….blah, blah, blah. One day I was riding around in an open air
vehicle with my partner and he was driving. It was a little windy
and I was trying to light a cigarette. You know how bad a
cigarette tastes in the wind??? I stopped myself after a couple
of puffs and thought to myself “I must be an idiot” I showed the
cigarette to my friend and told him that that was the last cigarette
that he would ever see in my mouth. I tossed it away and took
a pack from my shirt and crushed it up and tossed it. When we
got back to the office, I pulled two cartons that I had in my desk
and gave them away and I havent smoked a cigarette since.
That was 26 years ago. When the thought creeps back into your
mind, you just repeat that you dont smoke and the moment will
pass. Its addictive and takes a long time to completely get it out
of your system, but it gets easier day by day. Just forget it and
push it out of your mind. Good luck !

no bye taking alternative medicine, fool. doctor rodsenfeld says will power is good.

  3. Colette B Says:

The best way that I have found is the patch. It worked for me.

  4. gentle understanding Says:

Gosh, this is a tough one because everyone smokes for different reasons, therefore what remedy will work for one won’t necessarily work for another.
I successfully quit about seven years ago by using the patch AND the pill (Zyban). If you are really committed, these two together make it much, much easier and tolerable. Also, I began exersizing every day, which helped me release endorphins giving me a natural high. Meditation is also invaluable when you are quitting. Take deep breaths whenever an urge arises. Blessings to you.

My mother will be 76 on Jan. 16, 2007. She is a very talented and smart woman. When I asked her how she did it years later,
she said, “I decided it was bad and chose to quit through will power.” It was 1960 and she never smoked again. I admire that strength. She is my idea of a hero…survived more and accomplished most in a lifetime than most people I know. She would never ever admit it…..because that is how she is. I lost my godmother because she smoked 3 packs a day….Camel unfiltered. She was 53. I knew at 13 that they were nothing more than death on a stick.

My father quit smoking cold turkey. He was a smoker since he was in his teens.
Doctor told him to quit smoking due to heart disease. So he JUST QUIT!!! Just like that! Never ever touched a cigarette again. Later, he told me he couldn’t stand the smell of ‘em anymore, and he was a smoker for over 40 years!!!
So, when I hear people crying they can’t quit, they are just looking for sympathy, plain and simple.

Since we’re talking alternative medicine here, would really recommend trying Craniosacral therapy. If you can find somebody who knows what they’re doing, it is amazing what all Craniosacral therapy can help with!!! It’s worth a try… you have nothing to lose, and it’s (usually) less expensive than buying all those patches or all that gum!!
