Get on zyban. It totally works. I'm on wellbutrin for depression, but its the exact same drug, just different names. Anyway I had ben smoking for about 15 years, and when the meds kicked in full force I just had no desire to smoke. Actually it seems gross to me now. I havent had a cigarette in my mouth in about 2 months.

Oh yes, the nicotine withdrawl anxiety/temper tantrum. I've been there! What helped me was deep breathing. When you smoke, taking a deep breath feels like crap, when you've quit for even a week, it's a bit better. Come to appreciate that feeling of healthy lungs and think about lung cancer or how you'll no longer be coughing up crap, even the common cold is less of a problem when you don't smoke. After you've quit for awhile, you'll find that even the smell of cigarettes will give you a headache or make you feel nauseated.
Wellbutrin is commonly prescribed to people who want to quit smoking, of course, for them it's called Zyban because it's misleading for those who would otherwise avoid psychiatric medications. It's an antidepressant that I suppose is supposed to help with the crappy mood during the first few months. If you get desperate, consider talking to your doctor.

Cigarette diet......items needed:
Cigarettes
snack bags
knowledge in subtraction starting with what you smoke now
You will be gagging or not feeling so well when smoking on those last few days and may not even make it to your decided end date. In other words, you might quit sooner than planned ; )

Quitting smoking is something you can master.
Start right away.
Devote an hour...immediately, to developing this practice.
Be totally dedicated during this time.
Without interruption.
Make this time sacred.
Let the family know you are not to be interrupted during this time.
Do not answer the telephone.
If you like music, put on a headset to cut out all distracting noise.
Give yourself permission to be completely devoted for this one hour to this practice of quitting smoking for one hour each day.
Stay with it!
Gentle self-discipline is the key.
You will love this time with yourself, and after a while you will be come skilled in "not smoking."
Quitting Smoking is not really the goal.
Much more important is giving yourself the time.
This is where you will gain self-confidence, and with self-confidence comes more peace of mind.
You will develop Mastery one step at a time.
