You know. I think I would find me another MD. What an As*. I understand the health problems associated with smoking. I smoke myself. But I will not have someone threaten me in that manner. I would sue the As&. But for the patch. Some people have a great success with them Some don’t. You will just have to try and see. They did not work for me. Chantix did not work for me either and Welbutrin made me feel like I wan on crack.

    Hi Terri ..
yes the patch works for many people.. it seems its “different strokes for different folks”… there is really no wrong way to quit..good luck!!
the one thing that appears to be a constant, is that people can improve their chances of quitting. using a support group.. I attend nicotine anonymous meetings, both locally, and online.. online voice meetings are as close as your computer.. while quitting is seldom easy, it is doable with help.. once again good luck, and congrats on your decision its a biggie..
Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. Nicotine Anonymous welcomes all those seeking freedom from nicotine addiction, including those using cessation programs and nicotine withdrawal aids. The primary purpose of Nicotine Anonymous is to help all those who would like to cease using tobacco and nicotine products in any form. The Fellowship offers group support and recovery using the 12 Steps as adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to achieve abstinence from nicotine.

I smoked for 12 years and used the Commit lozenges for the first couple weeks. They don’t taste too good but it gives you that whole “oral fixation” when your craving a cigarette. After a couple weeks I didn’t need them anymore and I was fine. I would try those. Just pop on in when you want a cig. I found it really did take the edge off. (nothing gets rid of the desire completely- that’s where willpower comes in) Good luck!!!!
