My father and step-mother are expecting their first child in 6 months and I’m really excited about it. HOWEVER, my step-mom has not quit smoking and isn’t showing any signs of planning to quit. It has me really upset because I know how harmful that can be for the baby and I really want my brother or sister to be healthy, My step-mother has already had one miscarriage within the last year and we all want to avoid that happening again, but I don’t know how to bring up how much her smoking is bothering me. Any suggestions?

Hi sweetie. You could always print off or get some brochures that tell about the dangers of smoking during pregnancy and either give them to her directly, or leave them somewhere she’s bound to see them. Or you could ask if you guys can have a chat, then tell her worries about the babies health.
Ultimately though, if she really doesn’t want to quit smoking, nothing you do is going to change her mind. You may just have to get used to it.
If that’s the case, constantly comment on her smelling awful when she’s near you, and avoid being in the same place as her when she’s smoking – for your own health and to get your point across.

When you feel like you want to smoke, drink or eat something and feel what will occur to you if you continue smoking…(You do know, do not you?) There are these items that you stick on your skin to help you and there is medicine…..Great LUCK!!!=)

Get a job. It’ll distract your mind from drinking. Quit drinking just before smoking its the worst. Smoking may assist you quit.

Question by Melissa Anne: How can I get my friend to stop smoking weed?
My best friend tried weed a few months ago and only did it once every few weeks, which is fine. But recently she has been smoking daily and I’m getting worried. I know weed isn’t that dangerous but since she started smoking so frequently it’s like she’s a different person. I occasionally smoke with her but we never just hang out like we used to. How can I talk to her and get her to stop smoking so much without her getting angry or defensive?
Please help answer this I feel like I’m losing my best friend

I don’t think you can change her mind I smoke a lot and one of the most irritating things a non smoker can do is try and convince you to quit. It’s her life she can make her own decisions. Maybe you can let her know how you feel and see what she does. But if you guys were truly good friends you wouldn’t try and convince her to quit

I’ve considered saving up my funds and getting her those electronic cigarettes or the water vapor cigarettes. Do you feel that’s a very good idea? I’m nearly 22, haven’t smoked since January or February, and I am craving it bad right now. How long do you stay addicted to them, until you no longer care for them anymore? …I smoked weed and ciggs I liked weed way more. I didn’t smoke ciggs for two years then I got prego stoped smoking and all I wanted was ciggs no desire for weed… basically I don’t think it ever really goes away but eventually the thought will disgust you ether because you to proud or because just what it is

My girlfriend is 17, has been smoking for about a year now. I’m trying to get her off it, but she refuses. She always tells me she knows what she’s doing, she knows its hurting her, and she can stop whenever she wants. I find that hard to believe, because she always ‘needs’ one, and she freaks if she doesn’t. The least she smokes a day is 5, but that’s a rare thing, its almost always more. What can I do to stop her?
