Children and Cigarettes!

Either they smoke directly thanks to the influence of adults on them or they become passive smokers thanks to smoking overall. It is generally said that they are the most susceptible to diseases due to cigarette smoke because their breathing rate is higher than that of an adult.
Why Children?
The reason being the higher breathing rate puts children especially the very young in greater danger due to the tobacco smoke. The breathing rate of adults is generally 16 times per minute, whereas for children it is 20 times per minute. As they breathe in more air compared to adults, their susceptibility factor is also high when compared with the adults. They breathe in more toxins and other chemicals released during smoking in turn affecting their young lungs!
Smoking Mothers:

Your child unnecessarily gets the junk that you breathe in into his bloodstream resulting in significant changes. In fact you decrease your child’s life expectancy at a nascent age and you expose him to variety of diseases resulting in death finally. In fact children born to smoking mothers are often underweight and more prone to death after birth. It is also said that the child may even develop disabilities and it may even lead to cerebral palsy and death.
Gradually children exposed to smoking develop other complicated respiratory and other problems in the form of Asthma. Asthma is a serious disorder affecting millions of people in the world. If the child is already asthmatic then it may lead to other second hand complications also. It is said that children also develop some serious diseases like pulmonary bronchitis and Pneumonia, both killer diseases affecting adults. Just spare a thought; do you want your new born child to suffer unnecessarily?
Likewise children also suffer from increased fluid in their middle ear causing hearing and speech problems. Other problems may include development of toxins in the lungs resulting in a severe cough and even may result in bloody sputum and other problems.
Other Complications:
If you want your child to attain good health in terms of height and weight, then you should avoid smoking during pregnancy. In fact it has been learnt that children of smoking mothers results in poor development of intellectual memory and poor health along with the above mentioned problems also.
Let your child live a happy life. Don’t make him suffer for your faults!
