A small pleasure giving cigarette contains about 4000 compounds and it has taken countless lives from all over the world. So what makes these cigarettes, a toxic inhaler? Let’s see…

Image via Wikipedia The two most harmful substances in cigars – nicotine & carbon monoxide both increase your heartbeat rate. As a result it adds more pressure to the heart thereby straining your heart and blood vessels to work harder and ultimately it may result in a heat attack or stroke. Smoking tobacco will also slow your blood flow and cuts off oxygen supply to your limbs. Within a course of time airways also swells up and reduces the oxygen carrying capacity of your lungs. Tar deposits on your lungs as in chimneys.

Diseases:

These include emphysema, bronchitis, heart failure, COPD, lung cancer, strokes, asthma and myocardial infarctions (Heart Attacks). Even one switches to low tar cigars it won’t make any difference since smokers normally take a deeper puffs and smoke in for longer, dragging the tar deeper into their lungs.

Facts to remember:

Every year hundreds and thousands of people around the world die from diseases caused by smoking.

One in two lifetime smokers will die from their habit. Half of these deaths will occur in middle age.

A 20-a-day smoker will breathe in up to full cup (210g) of tar in a year.

People who smoke are ten times more likely to die from lung cancer than non-smokers.

Smoking causes around one in five deaths from heart diseases.

In young people, three out of four deaths from heart disease are due to smoking.

People consume cigars and cigarettes frequently oblivious to the fact that it consumes their health and wellbeing, day by day.
