Second hand smoke can affect children
Second hand smoke harms small children. When a child is exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke his lungs become irritated and more mucus is produced. As the airways are smaller for the children, the side effects are more for them and it also affects the function of the lungs. So children are affected easily with lung problems and sinus infections which might be very difficult to control.

Does smoking affect an unborn baby?
Certainly it affects an unborn baby in many ways. The addictive substance, nicotine present in the tobacco products is carried directly to the baby through mother’s blood stream. When a mother smokes during pregnancy then baby could have lung problems and 10 times higher possibility of getting asthma. Low-birth weight, sudden infant death syndrome and premature birth are also quite common.

How could you avoid smoking?
1. Avoid smoking in the home and in the car.
2. Don’t smoke in front of your child.
3. Avoid smoking in public places which leads to second hand smoking.
4. Try to get rid of smoking yourself. If anyone in your family smoke then calmly explain the dangers of smoking and ask them to quit from it.

What does happen when you smoke tobacco?
The smoke from the tobacco damages the hair like structures which are very tiny in the airways and is called cilia. Generally, the cilia sweep dust and mucus out of the airways. People are unable to work because tobacco smoke damages cilia which allow dust and mucus to accumulate in the airways. This smoking cause lung problems and also triggering an attack due to more mucus accumulated in the airways. Smoking is very harmful to all. Stop smoking and save your life.
