Anyone Have Any Tips On How To Successfully Stop...
I want… I NEED to stop smoking.(cigarettes by the way). I know my health is going to go downhill from here…and I don’t want that. I’m only 21 and want this to end before I start having children. I have health insurance…and was going to talk to my dr. But has anyone out there quit for good? If so, any tips?

Start chewing gum or putting tic taks in your mouth or something that keeps your mouth busy besides cigarettes. You have to decide you need to quit for yourself, not your mom saying you should quit or your coworkers.
When you feel like you need a cigarette, go and distract yourself with something else. Go and read a book or take a bubble bath. Take your mind off of the situation.
If the information availible isn’t enough to make you quit then here this:
Smoking is a very dangerous addiction. It will cause disease and or death in your lifetime if you don’t make 2008 your year.
Smokers will die an average of 12 years older than nonsmokers ( do you want to have a long life???)
There is an increased risk of cancer and stroke with smoking.
Causes Larynx Cancer, Lung Cancer, Oral Cancer, Bad Breath, Stained Teeth, Hoarse Voice, smoky odor and risk to asthma to your children ( glad you are considering that in your quitting plan. It shows it has importance in your life. )
Quitting Smoking has so many benefits to your health and well being.
You should go to a website where you can connect with other smokers who are going through the same thing you are for support~ it helps to know that you’re not alone…
Quit Cold turkey~ it’s one of the easier methods
Stop carrying cigarettes with you…
Work on it one day at a time… don’t think about tomorrow, next day, next year, your time is now.
Don’t dwell on the fact that you are depriving yourself of a cigarette but rather that you care enough about yourself to try and fix your problems.
Be proud that you are not smoking!
Avoid social situations which would trigger the urge to have a cigarette such as going to a bar.
Make a list of the positives of quitting and when you want a cigarette get out the list.
Drink Fruit juice the first few days as well as veggies.
Practice deep breathing exercises when you have a craving.
If you encounter problems and stresses in your life assure yourself that smoking will not fix the problem but probably make it worse!
I hope that I have helped you!
Best Wishes,
Molly

I have tried for years—no luck. Fortunately, I only smoke a couple of cigs a day, and a pack can last me more than a week.
My ex-wife quit successfully after having a 2-pack a day habit. I would have taken bets against it. I am so proud of her.
My advice—go somewhere for a weekend, ie: camping, where you have no chance of smoking. try to quit for 48 hours before that. After 3-4 days of not smoking, the theory is that the physical addiction is gone—but my ex-mother-in-law who quit smoking over 30 years ago says she still gets an occasional craving…
There is reportedly a shot you can get that stops the cravings, and the gum is said to be useful too. My advice—eat really healthy foods, exercise, get laid a lot, and when you get a craving, just tell yourself, “maybe I’ll smoke one in a couple of hours…but not now.” And—stay away from people who smoke—even if they are your friends—until you have been smoke-free for at least a month. I have quit for as long as 7 months, but when stress came along I would fold like a cheap suit…

I quit for good becuase i was just sick of smoking, having my clothes and myself smell like smoke, wasting my money, freezing my *** off outside to have a butt, the nasty smell when you walk into a room….
Just try to quit cold turkey..or atleast cut down..and just dont buy anymore…make the ones you have last then call it quits…or if you can just throw it out and dont look bad….you will feel 10x better in one week after you quit, even food will taste so much better, but it might be hard to be around other smokers for a while until you quit for good

Ok, i am not going to give you a long list of things to do soo here is my answer. Try keeping a pencil or pen in your mouth like a cigerette when you feel the erge to smoke. Also there are these sugar things that look like cigerettes but they are candy. Also keep in mind why you want to quit it will motivate you more. Fill your time with fun activities, it will keep your mind off smoking…..belly dancing, yoga, lessons of some sort! Try something new! Hope you succeed! Good Luck

yeah its called dont pick up a cigg. Cold turkey is the best and more respected way.. People who say they quit and walk around with 40 patches are lame. if you need something between your fingeres just carry around your fav pen.. but just stop!

in the time that you would spend smoking, fill with activities and spend more time around people that love you and will encourage you to quit smoking…
right now…throw away EVERY pack you have…and try not to think about it…
my neighbor quit smoking after 20+ years of it…she quit cold turkey…you can do it…!
