I smoked for 7 years and quit on the third try. It was very hard but I did it and have been smoke free for 8 months now. Heres what I did on the third try: I was prescribed “zyban” or bupropion. This helped me with the mental aspect. I felt like I didn’t want one. I combined zyban with the nicotine patch 21mg a day. This helped me with the physical craving. I also combined this with the nicotine gum. I barely used the gum. I had it on me at all times for the first month for emergency or stressful situations. If I felt like I was about to go for a cigarette and couldnt take it anymore, I would get away from the situation, chew a piece of gum and think about it for a few minutes. I only used the gum a few times but felt it was a great backup, and once I sat and thought about and calmed down, I didn’t want a cigarette anymore. People thought it was a little crazy having all those methods combined to quit smoking, but when I was chain smoking two packs and a half a day, thats what worked for me.
Good luck, you can do it!! If I could do it, trust me, you can to. Before you know it, you will be breathing better, tasting food better, skin will be softer and vibrantly glow, and altogether just feel so much healthier.

All the education in the world will not help unless your committed to it. I chewed sucked on candies it seemed forever after 18 years I still liked the candies I guess you could say I traded one habit for another! I found the Cinnamon the best (lol).
But good luck keep trying. it’s worth it. A friend use a couple marbles to keep his hands busy.

For my first week I used the Nicoderm patch and since then I have went cold turkey. It has been 1 month, one week and 3 days. My doctor offered me Chantix, the new pill to help you quit but it is kind of expensive. Roughly $100 for a month’s supply. They have coupons for $10 off just ask your doctor. It is worth it if he can quit.

Learn about the damamge the cigarettes are doing to his body and really really visualize it and that has got to make you quit. I smoked for many years and that realization about my health did it for me. The cravings are there everyday but I never give into them its been 5 years.
