Does Nicotine Stays In Your Lungs After You Stop...

I’ve been smoking for 4 years. If I stop smoking will my lungs ever be clean again? Can they be like they were before I started smoking? Or is there a medical operation or something to clean your lungs?

No dear ..It seems that U have been misguided.Nicotine never remains in Lungs..In fact it is absorbed by our pulmonary(lung) veins…so nicotine comes in blood…and this blood when reaches brain, makes nicotine to bind to our brain-nicotinic receptors..which ultimately produces the effects of smokin….But daily smoking produces some changes in the tissue of lungs which is continous for years can give irreversible lung changes(including cancers)…BUt research has proved n shown that stopping smoking for 10 years approx can bring your lungs to the previous state(non-smoker state)….but this above statement is condition to one thing that in this 10 years , you should’nt have developed the permanent changes…………..In all smoking is very bad…But the irony is that I have been smoking for past 6 years….lol

it takes 3 day after you completly stop for your body to purge itself of the nicotine after that its purly mental addiction.
It takes time to heal. About 5 years is what your looking at to be clean on their own.

Yes it stays in your lungs after you stop smoking but I’ve been told that they eventually repair themselves, so I’d say not smoking is far better for your lungs than smoking, I know your lungs will get back to a good state and you will be-able to breathe easier, you’ll be-able to do allot of things easier without getting out of breath. Good Luck if your giving up.

Nicotine goes into your blood stream, but tar stays in your lungs. I’m sorry to say that your lungs will be cleaner than now, but it will never get back to 100%. I don’t think there’s a medical operation because the tar sticks to the cilia of your lung cells.

No Nicotine doesn’t stay in your lungs. Tar does. No you cna’t get your lungs ‘cleaned’ medically but you can stop smoking so they can clean themselves!
    cough cough

yes sure it takes some time to clear, nicotine stays in ur lungs for about few hours to days for most of it is absorbed into system while u smoke, but other things like carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide cause long congestion, once u stop smoking u r lung getsto clear in 2 days and u start to feel to breath good in 4 days

When you inhale on a cigarette, the hot smoke is pulled into your body against delicate tissue in your mouth, throat, breathing tubes and lungs. Your lungs retain from 85 to 95% of almost all the chemicals you inhale, and there are hundreds of chemicals in cigarette smoke. Three of the most damaging are Nicotine, Tar and Carbon Monoxide.
Nicotine makes your blood vessels constrict. It cuts down the flow of blood and oxygen through your body. Tar damages lung tissue. When it cools inside your lungs, it forms a brown sticky mass that produces cancer cells in tests with animals. Carbon Monoxide takes the oxygen out of your red blood cells. Carbon Monoxide stays in the blood stream, robbing the body of oxygen, for up to six hours after a person has a cigarette.
The risk for lung cancer changes if a person stops smoking. Tests done on animals show that abnormal cells produced by tobacco smoke can recover and return to normal, when the exposure to tobacco smoke is stopped and enough time passes. The smoker’s risk is lowered to almost that of the non-smoker’s after 10 years of not smoking. The lungs begin to adjust almost immediately after quitting and the greatest benefits are during the first year after not smoking.
Lung cancer is a disease, caused by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the lungs. The abnormal cells no longer do the work of normal cells. The cancer cells grow over and destroy healthy tissue in the lungs. Quitting cigarettes will not cure lung cancer once it is there. So stop smoking before the cancer occurs.
