How Do I Train To Start Running And Getting Fit?

I am over weight and I smoke!!! I was going to the gym a couple of months ago 4/5times a week walking on the treadmill and swimming. Unfortunately I moved area and jobs and lost my motivation. i desperately want to start again and stop smoking but I just don’t know where to start this time. I also want to train to start running so it has more benefits when I do start.
Can anyone help me get the motivation and tell me how to increase my fitness levels?

The smoking thing should stop, it will help you if you do wanna run. To start out, you should start walking a mile or two a day. Listen to music so you don’t get too bored. Start out with doing that and just being active for a while. Once you think you would feel comfortable jogging half of your walk start that, jog the first half and walk the rest. Eventually you should jog the entire workout. I agree with the previous answer, if you have someone to run with it makes it so much easier. Every other night, do crunches ( as many as you think you can do 100-150 should be good). You can even do these when you watch tv or when you’re lying in bed. Hope this helps you get started!

    hey!!
yea, like everyone else, i suggest you cut down on your smoking. as for running, 2 months ago i was couch potato, and during my hols i decided to start running. i looked up some training programs online and started following two of them. i like coolrunning.com’s couch to 5k plan. u can give it a shot i think. i can run 4kms easily now without stopping… its good :)
just google for running plans, you’ll get loads of options, then pick the one u like best. the couch to 5k program has a lot of testimonials vouching for it, and ive seen first hand that it works!
    go for it :)
