How To Tell My Mom To Stop Smoking?
i BEG my mom to stop smoking for many reasons. i say it annoys me, i tell her it can kill me, and her. she is stressed, and i understand that, but she says stress can kill her too. i know that. but i tell her smoking can shorten her life and she always talks about being around for 20 more years. my grandfather was a smoker, and he almost died at 65. i don’t want to go to her funeral, but she won’t listen. what should i do?

Do it in creative ways e.g. :
” make sure you do it in a joking manner not to insult her, put that smiley
1- When you leave a sticky note for her to remind her on something, write this at the end of the note ” I love you mum, but I love you more if you quit smoking
2- When you are around her and she starts to smoke, say nicely to her ” Mom, I’d like to stay close to you right now but I prefer fresh air” smile and leave .. before you really leave, you turn back and say “mom, i love you but i love u more if you quit ” and giggle just to make it looks funny
3- Or you can make up a story about your friend lost her mom because of lung cancer and you felt pity for her. tell your mom that you don’t want the same thing happen because you love her very much
For the sticky note, may be you want to leave a dedicated note asking her to stop smoking EVERYDAY, if she’s exposed to that sticky note everyday, she’ll appreciate it and stop smoking ? I think one of the reasons she didn’t want to quit is because she doesn’t know how to quit . I think on your side, you should tell her you are willing to help her to stop smoking and you must know how to help her stop smoking. You should be the one that says “Mom, I’m here to help you quit “

Unfortunately, people won’t stop smoking until they want to stop smoking. No amount of persuasion will change this. The only alternative is to start doing something that really annoys her and when she asks you to stop, you tell her that you will stop as soon as she does. this can be anything as benign as dropping sugar on the floor or bringing dead animals in the house (It’s annoying when cats do it). You could even release live animals in the house (very annoying when cats do it). You could even ask her how she would feel about going to your funeral and threaten to start smoking to spite her.
At the end of the day, some people don’t care how things affect you. All the time it is not affecting them, why should they take action. So the only option is to make it affect them.

when i had to convince my dad about stopping, i tried a billion different ways. but what finally worked was when i lit up a cigarette in front of him and promised him i’d start smoking as well, if he doesn’t give up.
well apparently he didn’t care about HIS health but when he saw me doing the same, he stopped out of concern for me.
i love him for that and well, he does have a cigarette or two occasionally, but at least he isn’t addicted anymore.

A: Solve her stress.
That might help her than talking about it. Though the choice is hers.

if she lives in the US, she is very aware of the risks. if she is an adult, she can choose to quit.
