I actually gained a couple of pounds when I quit smoking…. but it would still be in your healths best interest to try and quit smoking as well…

not really. you’ll loose your weight if you eat less and do more exercise. smoke doesnt make much difference.

I hate to say NO, but truthfully speaking no because smoking does suppress your appetite. It has been said, that people who smoke gain weight when trying to quit because instead of the hand to mouth habit with cigarettes, you will substitute it with food. Lose the weight first , then after you maintain better eating habits then go on your non-smoking voyage. Good Luck

well I’m in the same boat as you. I am trying to lose about 40 pounds, and I thought I would quit smoking too, you know get healthy all at once. My experience has been this, but yours might be different: When I quit smoking I started PACKING on the pounds. It’s not that I ate more, I was still trying to eat healthy, exercise, etc. but for some reason I just started gaining weight when I quit. I went back to smoking, and I found that a cigarette takes the edge off my hunger, when I’m hungry, I light up. I know it’s not good, but I guess I will try to quit again when I’m skinny. Smoking is bad for you, but so is excess weight. It all depends on what is more important to you right now, and for me, losing weight is the most important goal in my life at this moment. So I smoke. And smoking hasn’t hurt my endurance any either. (it probably doesn’t HELP, but I don’t notice that I’m out of breath a lot)

smoking makes most ppl lose their desire for food and make u want cigarettes, but if u stop smoking it will help u exersize more easily… cuz u cant really do things like jogging very well when u smoke cuz it will make u breath harder and u wont be able to cuz u smoke

i would say yes for one thing it is bad for your health as you probably know, but one other thing is because smoking makes you burn out faster. If you want to lose weight you are going to need your lungs a lot, they will be working overtime, well if you think about it smoking will only slow you down because it messes with your lungs. In other words it will make you more out of breath then you would be.

you should want to stop smoking for more than just to lose weight, (what about the health benefits?) If you are serious about quitting, you will be fine if you do not replace your cravings for a smoke with food cravings, try and have a big glass of water when you would normally smoke or a cup pf green tea, that should help shed weight!

no.. i mean, it would help to stop smoking in the long run but i know a lot of marathon runners and fitness trainers who smoke and havent said that smoking has made them gain weight

Most smokers who quit actually gain weight. However a new pill has come out to help smokers quit without gaining weight. Ask your doctor about it. If you quit you WILL however have more endurance for exercises that will help you lose weight! Good luck.

NO NO IT WILL NOT:
This is why:
smoking increases your metabolism.
Smoking curbs appetite
you will want to replace the smoking addiction with food.
weight gain is one of the reasons most people don’t quit.
whom ever said yes it will help is terribly miss informed!!!
