Quit Smoking, Put On Weight How Can I Change That?









How much weight can I expect to gain by quitting smoking? I quit a month ago and so far put on about 7 pounds is this it or will it increase further?

    start exercising – it will help you
    find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
    eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
    5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
    8 glasses of water
    have complex carbs for breakfast – they give you energy
    have lean meat (protein) for dinner – repairs muscle
    cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
    dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
    ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

    Here is what you do, (by the way I just quit 3 weeks ago with CHANTIX) go to the book store and get a book called THE ABS DIET. No its not all about your abs, its more about how and what to eat and what food does to your body. I love food and this dietworkout program or way of living still lets you eat alot of the good stuff. If anything the book will be informative. The guy who writes for Men’s Health magazine wrote it.

    I quit smoking and I put on 30 kilos you can only try to do some excercise if you want to loose that weight (and eat properly)

    With most addictions, there is an emotional element that was behind the smoking. This same reason can make you eat more than you need.
    I would recomend a therapist to get perspective on things in your life. The worst thing that can happen is a little more objectivity.

    Recognizing it is the first thing.
    Now you do know what causes you to gain weight, right?
    Just now you are filling the smoking hole with food. So you need to get that stopped. Chew sugar free gum to get past the craving.

    every small steps count. Many smoke due to boredom, so when you are bored, instead of smoking, go for a walk, take the stairs, cycle around your neighbourhood. I hope this would help.

    only reason why you gain weight because of quitting smoking is that your body needs to replace that high from cigs with something else…IN OTHER WORDS STOP EATING

    Read the book “Easy Way to Stop Smoking,” written by Allan Carr. You won’t gain weight with his method.

    The only reason you gain weight is because we substitue eating for smoking. Next time you get the urge to smoke instead of grabbing a candy or chips. Go for a walk for 5 minutes.
    Weight gain is caused by eating not by not smoking. So you need to look at your eating habits. As well as add some exercise.

    When I quit smoking and gained 20 lbs, my doctor prescribed Wellbutrin, which is a mild antidepressant, to help me lose some of the weight and avoid gaining more weight. I did lose 10 of the 20 lbs I had gained, but I am still carrying the extra 10 lbs. My doctor suggested I start walking everyday, but I never followed through with it. I’m sure if you incorporate a new form of daily exercise into your new wellness program you can stop the weight gain and lose the 7 lbs. Congratulations on your decision to stop smoking!!
