What Are Some Withdrawal Symptoms After You Stop...

I’m wondering if my fatigue I’ve been having these last few days is because I stopped smoking on Monday. Did anyone else have weird physical symptoms after they quit?

bad news – weight gain is d 1st & fastest after effect of quiting smoking…

I had none (besides wanting to smoke)
Weight gain – did happen – Just because I ate on breaks instead of smoking
I never experienced the “crankiness” that can go with quitting since I chewed nicorette gum – maybe that helped with any other symptoms(?)

I’m with you. Just stopped last week.
Yes, you’ll have fatigue, because the nicotine was keeping your metabolism at a high level. Do some exercise to keep the metabolism up.
And you’ll be cranky and sometimes unpleasant to be around. Hang in there, it’ll pass.
I got a great saying from a friend: The urge to have a cigarette will pass, whether or not you smoke one.

Every time my SO quits, he sleeps for about three days, is grouchier than a grizzly in spring, and becomes almost psychotic in his ravings.

  6. Adam the Engineer Says:

My Aunt and Cousin gained a lot of weight when they stopped smoking. Maybe there’s something there that’s similar to your lethargy.

  7. China Jon Says:

    1. Your senses of smell and taste improve. Food tastes and smells better. It is easy to eat too much of ‘Food, Glorious Food!’
    2. Your teeth start to whiten. The battle for whiter, brighter teeth now shifts in favor of whiter. Nicotine stains become a thing of the past.
    3. Your clothes start to smell fresh. As the tobacco smell is cleaned or washed out, the overall smell of your personal environment changes from an oder, to an aroma of your choice. Previously, all attempts to hide the tobacco smell have failed.
    4. Non-smokers start talking to you again. After a shot time, some will stand closer to you since they are no longer repelled by yellow teeth and tobacco odors.
    5. Your choice of lovers changes from smokers to non-smokers. Since your mouth no longer tastes like stale tobacco, non-smokers will find you more attractive. And, since your senses of taste and smell are returning, you will shy away from smokers, and start to favor non-smokers.
    6. When you tell a new acquaintance that you are a non-smoker, the estimation of your IQ will be raised by up to 10 points.
    7. You will discover more money in your wallet than you thought possible. Whereas before it was spent making smoke, the saved money will add up quickly depending on the degree of your habit.
    8. You will lose those friends who only hung around you so they could bum a cigarette off you.
    9. You will gain new friends as people who avoided you before will not avoid you any longer.
    10. You will have more energy and breath more freely. You should take up a healthy exercise program to burn up the extra oxygen you now have in your body.
    11. You will lose the smoker’s hack, and your morning coughing fit will fade away. The phlegm color will change from sickly brown to a normal color – depending on what you eat for dinner the night before.
    12. You will live a longer happier life, and the people around you will enjoy your company more than they do now.
    13. You will lose the coolness of being able to blow smoke rings into your adversary’s face. You will have to switch to a dazzling smile and witty repartee.

    Irritability or anxiety
    Depression
    Restlessness
    Difficulty concentrating
    Increased appetite
    Light-headedness
    Insomnia
    Tobacco cravings
    Headaches
    Fatigue
    Digestive disturbances such as constipation
Most of these symptoms usually disappear within the first month. Some ex-smokers may struggle with symptoms for a longer time period, particularly tobacco cravings, concentration problems and wanting to overeat.
