What Symptoms Did You Have When You Quit Smoking?
Hi there,
I am on my second day without smoking and i already feel agitated and a bit moody (oh dear). I already feel healthier though. I only smoked about 2-3 a day but i want to quit completely.
I was just wondering what I have to look forward to in the way of symptons lol.
Thanks in advance

i gave up yonks ago, it was in feb and i constantly came down with flu like symptons i generally felt really unwell plus i didn’t know what to do with my hands a lot of the time! i avoided pubs for a while too as there was too much temptation to light up but now it’s the opposite i was a chain smoker with a constant bad chest and smokers breath in the mornings yuk so keep at it your health and weath will certainly improve.

Well done because the first 48 hours is the hardest.
Your body is used to the physical change now and it’s just a mental thing from now on. Remember that from 48 hours on it is all mental
The biggest change I noticed was weight increase but that was my fault for snacking, I should have drunk water instead.
Don’t give up now because the hardest part is over
Good luck

The withdrawal symptoms are going to be though… but if you can get help from the NHS or something (or if you have incredibly strong will power) then i’m sure you’ll be able to stop…
My dad stopped about 30 years ago without any help,, i have no idea how he did it…

Everyones symptoms can be different yet we all share the same stroppy/moody symptom!! I also had night sweats and horrific nightmears!! Through the day I was constantly taking myself into having a ciggie but knew that I didnt want to…I was very moody and VERY weepy…I suppose the horrific side effects for me helped me stay off the cigs because I knew I wasnt do that again!! Ive now been off them for over 3 years and have never had a notion to go back.
Good Luck and remember DONT GIVE IN!!!

Absolutely none – although my cough didn’t stop for a year! Of course, I must be one of those very lucky people who don’t/didn’t suffer: I could smoke for Britain – 100+ a day and stopped dead with no problems, and the same for drinking – a litre and a bit of Scotch every day – and still no ill effects. Just do something else for a minute or two until the craving/irritation passes by – and it will – I gave both up about six years ago and I’m still here!
Mind you, both of my legs have dropped off….NO…I’m joking! Keep it up! You’ll WIN ! ! !

When I quit I just had cravings for them which was hard to resist. I don’t think I was grumpy though. I never put weight on either Why don’t you try going to a gym or a walk to stop you thinking about the cigs and then you will stop feeling so agitated as well. Well done for quiting.

The worst feeling for me is when that feel good health factor wears off to just become “normal”. The agitated moods tend to go after a couple of days but then I feel a bit depressed for a week or two.
Staying positive is the hardest bit, but if you can you’ll be able to achieve, good luck!

The side effects can be these, Aggressiveness, Stressed out, Short tempered, You need to do something different with your hands, Learn to do something different, Also a side effect can be boredom. You need to focus into other things. Stay positive my friend. xxxx

Hi well done!!! Keep at it. Although you did not smoke that much a day you should not get too much in the way of with drawal symptoms, its just the habit really which is why you are getting a little moody, but you should feel much better in he next few weeks.

Don’t tell your psychiatrist, he/she will ask to be paid in advance. In other words feeling agitated and moody will get very much worse before it gets better.
