Will I Necessarily Gain Weight If I Quit Smoking?

I have made up my mind about quiting (i have been smoking for 4 years). I follow a very healthy diet and exercise regularly. I am however prone to picking up weight due to digestive problems. I have managed to keep my weight in tack, but I am very scared of picking up once I quit. If I eat normally and increase my exercise, I see no reason for me to gain weight, but everyone says I will! Do you have any tips to avoid this??

I too am a smoker and I’ve quit a few times.
the reason people tend to gain weight when they quit smoking is because they use food as a replacement habit. Just because you quit smoking does not mean you will automatically gain weight. If you already have a good health regimen in place, stick to it, or better yet, use it as a replacement habit. Instead of going out for a smoke or grabbing something to eat, go for a run or something.
    Good luck with quitting.

If you start to eat every time you had a cigarette, yes you will gain weight. If not, you will not gain.
Why not quit the tobacco and smoke a healthy cigarette?

Some people gain weight simply because they eat MORE than they did when they smoked. Cigarettes actually suppress your appetite and once you stop, you will become more hungry… but you can avoid unnecessary weight gain by keeping eating habits under control and exercise.
