It is not easy. That is right. Some say it is simple to advise a smoker, asking him to stop the bad habit. Ask anyone who tried to stop smoking, who found it difficult for the concerned person. The answer that you get will make you empathize with the person who exerted much effort just to stop smoking.

The craving to smoke one last stick has always been there for people who had already liked the habit. Individuals who stopped smoking for several years will relate to you that they experienced those infrequent cravings to smoke. It is unfortunate to note though, that a lot of those who successfully quit the habit went back to smoking since they could not control their cravings nor could they refuse that stick that a friend offers to him. It is pointless going back to zero following what a smoker had to undergo just to stop smoking. Those irregular cravings really need to be curtailed by all means.

Smokers, take note. You can still try a very uncomplicated and economical process to get yourself out of this predicament. Water is believed to be helpful to people who crave for a puff. This is a piece of good news for those smokers who are first-timers and on their initial weeks of desistance. Longtime smokers have become addicted to the strong drug called nicotine. When a person is in the withdrawal stage or is just starting to quit smoking, his body, which is used to nicotine, experience smoking urges. Water can effectively flush out nicotine from our system. More water consumption, more toxins eliminated. Meaning, a person who experiences smoke urges should strive to double his water intake. For some, the practical way is for the person to decrease the quantity of cigarettes that he smokes. In such manner, the body learns to get along with lesser nicotine intake on a gradual basis. Unexpected stopping confuses our system and may result to more withdrawal symptoms. One of these symptoms is having headaches.

If you stopped smoking, but succumbed to a craving, do not worry. Just drink it down with 3 to 4 glasses of drinking water so the body toxins will be flushed out. Then stick to your strong resolve not to submit to that desire to smoke next time. Feel that urge coming? Do not give in. Drink and refresh with a considerable number of glasses of plain water right away and remind yourself to be firm and resolute in your endeavor – not to increase deadly toxins in your system.
