The Nicotine content in your cigarettes leaves you addicted to it making it very difficult for the smoker to come out of it. It is more or less like watching TV. Can you remain even a day without watching it?

It is easier said than done! Yes, it is not that very easy. The Nicotine addiction is very powerful, so powerful in fact that sometimes it can make a person feel like he cannot live without it. So if you are planning to quit smoking, then go for the kill completely. Don’t even try to smoke again if you really want to stop this habit. Otherwise you will go nowhere in achieving your long term goal of being regarded as an “Ex-Smoker”.

There are numerous methods to help a person escape from this deadly habit. It differs from one person to another as each person is different. If the person wants really to come out of this habit, then the treatment can become easier. So it depends on how strong they are mentally to come out of it.

Quit Gradually:

It is well known that to stop smoking, you need to quit cigarettes. But you can still control the addiction by the process of reducing the number of cigarettes used everyday. But then you have to tell yourself that you don’t want nicotine from now on. So it is all about self control and good intentions. You should not have second thoughts at all. Remember it should be about two weeks before you stop smoking completely.

Seek family and friends support:

Tell your family members and your friends that you are quitting smoking. Remember they are of great help to you as they understand you more than anybody. Tell them that you will not go back to it, so that even by mistake if you hold one cigarette in your hand then your family member or a friend will stop you.

Seek doctor’s help:

Medicines are also available from the market and your doctor can help you get the names. These medicines are effective in making you feel that you don’t need Nicotine anymore that you will stay away from it completely.

Develop a diversion:

Develop a diversion. Find something to take your thoughts away from smoking such as going for a holiday, recreation clubs, playing a game of cricket with your child and so on. The possibilities are endless and you have to pick one and go for it

There are easy ways to quit smoking and stay away from the cigarettes. Be it with the aid medicine, patches, gum or whatever it is, it is only you who can effectively stop smoking and live a healthy life
