Stop Throwing Lame Excuses About your Smoking Habit

Habits would not be habits if they are easy to kick out. For smokers wanting to quit, they find enough good reasons to finally end the habit, even though they know that it is not an easy thing to do. As for chain smokers who simply are not brave enough to take the challenge, they continue to throw lame excuses because they are too comfortable with the habit already or “too lazy” even to make changes for their own well-being. One excuse is the need to concentrate, which is something smoking supposedly gives. This concentration excuse is a baseless argument and only fits a hole that satisfies the craving to smoke, making it more difficult to give up the habit.
If you decide to quit smoking, do not be afraid to take the chances since you will benefit from this in the end, aside from doing your health a big favor. Your family will be even there to support you in this decision. Do not fear having withdrawal symptoms because they are normal and this is only your body’s natural reaction as you rid yourself of the toxins you developed over time with the smoking habit.
Withdrawal symptoms include the feeling of restlessness, being irksome, and intense craving. The mind of a smoker perceives these as triggers to reach out for a stick. The more intense the craving, the harder it is to quit the habit. Contrary to the smoker’s belief that puffing a cigarette helps in their concentration, smoking actually lessens it. Nicotine only messes up the brain and the body’s entire system. Nicotine is a very addictive substance and the more you use it, the stronger your addiction.
A healthy non-smoker will definitely have a good time remembering things than a smoker who pollutes his body with nicotine. As nicotine takes its toll, the harder it is for the person to concentrate. Thus, the more he reaches for a stick of cigarette for the so-called “increase” in concentration.
Smokers will find many diseases in the long run if they will not stop smoking. Some of these illnesses include blocked arteries, the lessening of oxygen flow into the brain, reduction of the ability to concentrate, memory loss, and busted lungs. “Concentration Con,” the lame excuse of smoking non-quitters, is only a mind-game they would rather choose to believe in.
In order to be released from the bondage of this dirty habit, one should stop resorting to lame excuses first. This way, there would be genuine desire to change on the part of the smoker and this can then set the habit in. A sincere desire to change is a needed step towards quitting.
