The Call for Determination to Quit Smoking
Image via Wikipedia Believe it or not, when asked if smokers want to quit smoking, quite a number of them say yes and actually plan on a certain day they want to stop. Sad to say though, in most cases, it becomes unworkable and they fail when they try, as their addiction has already taken hold of them. They thrive to make it, thinking that they have progressed yet only to find out that they are back at the beginning of their well-intended plans.
This goes not just for a smoker or two. This is rather a scenario that is common amongst smokers worldwide. Although nicotine is known to be very deadly, it stimulates quite a powerful craving. The good thing though is that a lot of people have actually been able to resist the temptation and have been successful in being able to quit smoking. How did they do this then? They do it through sheer willpower and determination.

One of the first things that you need to do is to change your way of thinking. Have a positive outlook and change your lifestyle in little ways by disassociating yourself from activities that entice you to smoke. For example, if you note that whenever you go out drinking or go to a club, you are more likely to smoke compared if you go out and watch a movie, then what you need to do is minimize the times that you go clubbing. By taking a mental reminder of these things, you will see changes starting to happen in you.
The next thing that you have to do is to cite all the excellent reasons and its effects why you are going to stop smoking and make sure that these reasons actually make you feel good. If they do not, you just might not succeed still. Emotional and mental strengths are needed to be able to overcome this lethal threat to your life.
Some are concerned about withdrawal effects that they may have to face. However, if you have conditioned yourself properly, you will be able give more importance to the long-term benefits of quitting, and thus remain committed to your goal. Write down your thoughts on smoking and quitting and always be optimistic. Keep in mind though that to be effective, it is not just enough to write things down but you must act on them as well.
